From the beginning, BLD has incorporated all of its experience with the values of its founding roots…customer service. The owner and founder of BLD, Gilbert Barrera Hernandez, after working and supervising in the industry for over 20 years, looked to improve on what he saw as a growth oriented service. Gilbert, having been a foreman and account manager for large scale properties, including Target Financial, Honeywell Corp., BCBS of Arizona, Arrowhead Executive, Walgreen's Corp and Phoenix Children's Hospital, noticed that landscaping companies were losing sight of what really mattered the most to him…customer service.
In an effort to regain his pride in workmanship and establish the fundamental core values of giving an honest day's work for an honest day's pay, followed by customer relations in everyday dealings, Gilbert left corporate landscaping to start BLD in 2000. From the beginning BLD has grown and continues to grow today into a leading Valley Landscaping and Design Company, yet it still operates and runs as a family-owned business. Much of BLD's growth can be attributed to customer service and getting the job done right the first time. BLD continues to attract new business and maintains its old business primarily through word of mouth referrals from its clients.
